So I went to ICON 6 and made some mind-sketches, then I turned them into a quick narrative (excluding some great talks and some volunteering). It was definately worth attending and I recommend it to anyone interested in Illustration. Alot of swimming, drinking, talking, and too little soccer. I could certainly add more, but I figured this was a good start.

I made a poster for the one object that inspires me at the moment...and that object is the Double Down. A disgustinging mixture of of bacon and cheese sandwiched between not bread, but two pieces of chicken. Genius.

	How thick is the crust?

	Who made it?

	What toppings?

	Is it burnt?

	Did you avoid the noid?

Is the crust stuffed with cheese?

Whats your favorite pizza box illustration?

And of course part 2 of the food inspired stories...I liked the bread stories...very sincere...very touching.

This was a three week assignment in which I bound a 26 page short story by Jorges Luis Borges. Here are some various pages in the book. I plan on taking photographs of the actual book because it is very diificult to imagine a bound book with just the pages laid flat.

If you have a strong desire to read all of Borges' work with a freshness of image and plot avoid looking at this work...I know for me Legolas was never not Orlando Bloom after seeing the Lord of the Rings movies...could be worse i suppose.

hypochondriac

For this assignment we read an article about a reporter who has hypochondria. He seems normal...but he believes every possible danger/disease is a reality. Thus, my concept is that on the second page of the article there is a very ordinary, GQ looking image of a man...HE IS FINE. And then the front image is a distortion of that reality...HE IS NOT FINE. I wanted to avoid thinking like an illustrator for this assignment, and I focused on a visual style. I simply photographed my roommate, erased out the backgrounds...printed out a front facing portrait, scanned at 600 DPI so that the scanned moved slowly (gave me more time to distort the image). The top black shape on the image luckily seems to mimic an EKG about to flat line. That works well with the I AM DYING...I am not going to even pretend I intended that, but I will definitely take credit for it...

	sickly yellow / offset...

	healthy yellow / lined up...

Twas an opportunity to utilize previous experimentation with scanners and photocopiers...the continual replication and distortion fit well with the mindset of a hypochondriac.

I am definitely interested in feedback on this one because this is a territory I am not very familiar with. As an experiment I think it was successful, but I am wondering how effective it is outside of experimentation.

	Boy, do I love broccoli.

I noticed no discussion of broccoli so i thought this would help.

I used to loathe it, but now look at me.

Loosen that tie and just open up about how you feel about broccoli.

I would like to discuss food every week...

	get hungry.
