Hey Ohger recently I started a new webcomici called Motivasean. Sean, like many of us is always seeking ways to motivate himself. However taking advice the wrong way can always be bad news...bad news bears. Hopefully you all will follow Sean and his quest to find ways to motivate himself!

I plan to do at least one a week, currently I've done three so far. I might throw in some other comic ideas other than Motivasean on the blog. Who knows, I'm having fun doing these so we'll see where it takes me!

Here is a recent wallpaper I did for Canvas. A project started by a friend Erika Brouwer showcasing different artists and their wallpaper creations! Check it out here! http://www.erikabrouwer.com/wallpaper/

I also made a gif of my process during the piece. Some mysterious grainy bits show up at the end, not sure how to fix that...

	"First To Last"
	Financial Post: December 19th 2009

Investing Feature this week: An old investor adage from Sir John Templeton states "buy when pessimism is at its maximum, sell when optimism is at its maximum." Stocks that are down most of the time are sure to go back up. The stocks that were last will eventually be first.Gigi Suhenic who directed me on this piece wanted me to go with the "Last to First" direction. The story of the tortoise and the hare hit me as being a great way to symbolize that idea. This illustration was a lot of fun to do. It was nice to play around with the inks for color again. It was kind of like a breath of fresh air for me to use them, since I haven't in awhile. The article is a very good read even if your not into investing so check it out here!.

Hellooooohhger! I mentioned that a couple weeks ago I went to Costa Rica for a week, here are some of the sketches that I did during the trip. Unfortunately me being the worst vacation packer ever, forgot to pack my watercolors and paints. So I only had my trusty Pentel ink brush and pen, which was fine by me. I don't usually take a lot of trips but many times I find it hard to balance sketching abroad and spending time with the people you’re with. I wonder how you fellow Ohgerians (yes I just made that up) balance this? I know it’s usually easier when your with a group of artists or by yourself but most of the time it’s not the case. Anyways here’s the sketches!

Long time no post! I've been away to Costa Rica and I finally am home sweet home. Costa Rica was amazing and I'll be sure to post sketches and pictures this week! This was the Investing Feature for Financial Post from November 7th: Big Canadian companies such as Shoppers Drug Mart, Tim Horton’s and Canadian tire are favored names in the Canadian Market. However the performance compared to some peers in the United states has been underwhelming. Many of the Canadian companies seem to plateau very quickly, while the U.S competitors are still in for the ride.

This weeks investing feature: The third quarter earnings in the market are doing great and delivering better than what was expected for investors. Even showing some of the growth that investors were craving but they are not satisfied anymore. They want more, and to top it off they're picky on what they want.

I haven't really done fun characters in awhile, I used to include them all the time in School pieces but strayed away from them to try something new. It's always refreshing to come back to something you loved doing before and mixing it up with images you do now. The deadline for this was shorter than the last one... sometimes handling things under pressure is a great thing. For me, I seem to second guess myself less and commit to ideas and decisions better under pressure. Of course though I'd still prefer having a lot of time to do an illustration.

Bonds, James Bonds

Hi-lo Ohger! Here is this week’s Financial Post Investing Feature. The illustration is about the current high risk of buying Bonds. Prices for Bonds are really high and interest rates are low. There is a mountain to climb for investors if they really want to invest in them.

Lesson of the week!: What is a Bond? Bonds are kind of like an IOU. So an investor agrees to loan money to a company. But that money is agreed at a certain interest rate to payback. So with interest rates being low and Bond Prices being high, it's a big risk and challenge banking on interest rates to rise.

I'm still exploring a sort of fusion style in my work, which I find actually looks better in print. The turnaround time for this piece was pretty fast; I had to crank the process and final out in less than 4hrs. Although I'd rather spend time on pieces, it's a big learning experience figuring out what you can and can't do in a small amount of time.

The investing pieces have been an interesting challenge. With the fast paced nature of newspapers, it was important to learn to be quick with ideas and execution. Many times I would get 2 or 3 sentences on what the story will be about because the article is not yet written. This can be tough; especially when the synopsis can differ slightly to what the actual article is saying. I'm wondering how other people deal with really tight deadlines? I know there are a slew of things running through someone’s mind during those really hectic moments.
