Boy oh boy...
posted: February 23, 2010
I've been faithfully following you guys since Ohger's fairly recent inception, so what can I say? It's an honor to finally be among you.
For a little bit of background: I'm a senior at UArts, and I couldn't be more excited to gradjeeate. I'm a blog fiend, and am pretty sure that I've seen everything that exists on the internet. I grew up just outside of West Chester, PA, I'm the youngest of four daughters, and our family dog looks like a mogwai. I have a nearly encyclopedic knowledge regarding butterflies and moths. Some of my favorite illustrators are Lauren Nassef, Silja Goetz, Jessica Hische, and Jim Tierney. As for my own work, I might as well take you through my senior thesis work. These pieces will be on display here at the University of the Arts (along with the work of my very talented classmates) starting on April 6th, all the way through to April 20th, as part of the Illustration senior thesis exhibition / competition known as "The Ely". ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() So these photographs are some kind of awful, and I do apologize, but you get the idea, I hope? I chose to design/illustrate book covers (I've been addicted to book covers since junior year) and more specifically, redesigns of D. H. Lawrence's most famous works. These novels are full of romance, sensuality and passion, but are also as staunch and restrained as the English class system of the early 20th century. I had a lot of fun with these covers, playing with texture and color, as well as with symbolic imagery. It will be so satisfying to finally see them hung on the wall aside the work of my peers. Right, so... there's me and a bit of my work. Looking forward to sharing more, definitely. Thanks for having me on board! To see more of me around the interwebz, feel free to check out my tumblr, flickr, and of course, my website. I get around.
